14 Grams dried grey morels (1 package=approximately 1/3 lb fresh mushrooms)

Morels are the most highly sought after and well known wild mushroom with the exception of truffles. They have a distinctive umami flavour that is very different from the common button mushrooms you see in the store. Almost meat flavoured and textured, these mushrooms shine as the star of the dish as long as you don't overpower them with stronger flavours. Grey Morels are very similar to Black morels, but with a denser texture and slightly milder taste. To us anyway, though some cannot distinguish a difference. Very rare and difficult to see in the forest, these are a prize often saved for special events.

TO USE:

After rehydrating 15 min in hot water, saute in butter with garlic, and add to steak, scrambled eggs, toast, pizza, potatoes, creamy pasta or soup, perogies and more. The possibilities are endless!
