INFORMATION:
In ancient Egypt, roses were everywhere. It is said that Cleopatra had the sails of her barge soaked in rosewater and regularly had the fountains at her palace filled with fresh rose petals. Writing about Cleopatra, Athenaeus, a ancient Greek writer wrote:
On the fourth day she distributed fees, amounting to a talent, for the purchase of roses, and the floors of the dining-rooms were strewn with them to the depth of a cubit, in net-like festoons spread over all."

Suffice it to say, she loved them.
Speaking of love, Isis, the Egyptian Goddess of Love was also infatuated with roses and chose the flower to be her symbol, a motif that appeared in temples throughout the country. Followers of "the Rose Cult of Isis", believed the flowers had unique qualities ranging from healing powers and working as an aphrodisiac to working miracles of love, even after death. The rose was in such high demand throughout ancient Egypt that cultivation of the flower became a massive industry within the kingdom.
While the Rose Cult of Isis may be a vestige of the past, roses still hold a prominent position in virtually every culture on earth. And while they are typically purchased in their fresh form, in recent years, rose teas and tisanes have begun to grow in popularity immensely. Aside from their heavenly smell, rose petals are prized by natural health practitioners as a source of Vitamin C, pectin, malic acid and citric acid. As such, the tisane they produce is thought to offer numerous health benefits including the ability to relieve sore throats, clear toxins from the body, function as a laxative and much more. Brew them on their own, or add them to your own tea blends, either way you're about to start a new rose cult of your own.
