Astaxanthin Plus
Feature summary
Astaxanthin Plus contains non-GMO ingredients, including AstaREAL® natural astaxanthin made from the microalgaeHaematococcus pluvialis. AstaREAL is produced by fermentation and is significantly more effective at scavenging free radicals than the synthetic form, which is made with petrochemicals. Although the body is equipped with its own natural antioxidant defences, they can become overwhelmed by overexposure to everyday environmental factors such as pollution and stress, as well as by the production of reactive oxygen species that are a result of normal metabolic processes. Adding an antioxidant supplement such as Astaxanthin Plus to your daily routine will provide the extra assistance that the body’s natural defence mechanisms need in order to maintain optimal health.
Uses & Benefits
- Natural astaxanthin has greater biological activity than synthetic astaxanthin
- AstaREAL® is one of the most studied brands of astaxanthin in the world
- Contains lutein and zeaxanthin for additional antioxidant support
- Unlike most antioxidants, astaxanthin is both lipid and water soluble
- Non-GMO formula in a base of organic flaxseed oil
How it works
Most antioxidants are either hydrophilic (water soluble) or lipophilic (lipid soluble), meaning that their activity is limited to protection of the lipid (fat) component of cells, or to the aqueous (water) part of cells. Water-soluble antioxidants such as vitamin C offer protection to the blood and the fluids within and around cells. Lipid-soluble antioxidants such as vitamin E are located in cell membranes, protecting the exterior of the cells from oxidation. Both types of antioxidants are required for complete cellular protection. Astaxanthin is unique in that it is both water- and lipid-soluble. Its chemical structure allows it to be present both inside and outside the cells, offering better overall protection against oxidative damage.
