Pure Soap Flakes
Eco-Pioneer Soap flakes are manufactured by a process called saponification. The term saponification is the name given to the chemical reaction that occurs when a vegetable oil is mixed with the strong alkali, sodium hydroxide, and heated. The products of the hydrolysis reaction are soap and glycerol. Once the soap solidifies it is ground into flakes. We use only natural, vegetable oils to create our soap flakes.

Ingredients: Pure Soap Flakes (Sodium palmitate and/or sodium cocoate).
ECO-PIONEER washing products are 100% pure and non-hazardous to the environment. As the early Pioneers knew, cleaning does not need to be complicated. Our products are designed to be simple, effective and environmentally sustainable. Besides being all natural and readily biodegradable, our washing powders leave a small ecological footprint. They are sourced from local suppliers and are minimally packaged in 100% recycled paper fibre boxes and printed with non-toxic, vegetable inks.
BASIC LAUNDRY SOAP RECIPE
- 250 ml (1 cup) soap flakes
- 125 ml (1/2 cup) washing soda*
- 125 ml (1/2 cup) borax
- Mix ingredients together and stir well.
- For regular loads: Measure 1/2 cup of mixture and add to cold water in your washing machine.
- Wash as normal, making sure you rinse with cold water.
* For very hard water, add more washing soda.
Even with the extra cost of incorporating all of the above ingredients, doing your laundry this way is still more economical than conventional methods! Also, never forget to dry your clothes in the sun whenever possible. Sunshine is the oldest and best natural bleach and disinfectant available.
